free photo editor
Editing photos is no longer something limited to photographers or professional photographers, everyone is adding their adjustments to photos, from filters to using artificial intelligence to remove objects and change facial expressions.
Because of this widespread use of users’ editing of their photos, today we wanted to review with you two of the best photo editing applications on smartphones Snapseed and Adobe Lightroom, and what is the difference between what each application offers.
Snapseed is a Google photo-editing app that relies on artificial intelligence for many of its features, adding a number of features not available in other apps.
The application, as we will review it with you, is full of a set of various tools that will cover most of the needs of its users, and its size is small, not exceeding 25 MB.
When you open the application, you will find that the interface is very simple. An application screen appears for you to choose the image you want to modify, then the application moves you to a screen that is divided into three windows.
- The first for choosing filters and quick adjustments
- The second list of tools
- And the third is to save the images or convert them to a specific format or to a specific application
We will skip the first window with you because it does not offer anything new about any other application, and we will go directly to the tools menu.
Tune Image Tool
The first tool that we will be sharing with you is the Tune Image tool.
This tool allows adjustments of brightness, saturation, shadows, contrast and many more.
The remarkable thing about this tool is that you do not need to press repeatedly to control the changes that you want to make, but rather it is only limited to dragging up and down to reach what you want.
For example, if you want to control the level of lighting, swipe up until the choice is made on it, then swipe left and right to select the level you want.
Google also allows users to auto-adjust by leaving it to the artificial intelligence to make the adjustments it deems necessary.
Artificial intelligence tools
The application provides a set of tools that rely on artificial intelligence to modify images, the most important of which is in the opinion of the Healing Tool. This tool allows you to remove the parts that you do not want to appear in the image so that the application replaces them with surrounding parts to appear as if they did not exist in the first place.
Unfortunately, the feature is not as good as the outstanding performance that it provides on the Adobe Photoshop application on computers, but it is a distinctive tool for a mobile application.
The best mode for using that image in a view is from wide images with a large background, making it easier for the application to identify the surrounding environment and replace the unwanted part easily.
Another AI tool is Head Pose, which can change the direction of the face in a simple way to adjust images.
This feature is useful when taking selfies and looking at the screen instead of looking at the front camera, which makes the user’s face face more downward. Using this tool can adjust the direction of the face to be more tuned and appropriate to what the user wants.
This tool also enables the possibility of adjusting the shape of the mouth or especially the smile.
Google also added another set of features that can modify the face, such as the Portrait tool, which allows modification on skin color, smoothness of the skin, lighting on the face, and clarity of the eyes. One.
Apart from the face, the app also provides three important tools for smartphone photographers.
The first tool is HDR-Scape, a tool that simulates the activation of the HDR feature when taking pictures with a phone camera.
The second feature is Lens Blur, which allows users to isolate images, but completely freely without being bound by what is imposed by artificial intelligence.
The third and final tool is Double Exposure.
Of course, Snapseed supports basic tools such as cropping, adding text, frames and other functions of basic photo editing applications, but we preferred to review the best tools that the application offers.

Adobe Lightroom app
Adobe Lightroom is an Adobe smartphone application for editing photos.
The application, unlike Snapseed, comes with a more crowded interface, where the main screen shows a number of modified images for photographers and application users, as well as shortcuts for the user account, the photo library and the camera (for capturing pictures only) in addition to a side menu containing more windows related to paid subscriptions, application and account settings.
In general, the application offers more professional tools and more varied options and tends to provide the ability for users to manually modify the reliance on artificial intelligence.
The best options that photography offers in editing photos are the lighting and color adjustment tools.
In lighting, the application allows controlling the level of contrast, the ratio of white and black and their reflection on the image, shadows and exposure.
The modification in Adobe Light Room can be relied on by dragging the cursor left and right or through curves, which allows not only to control the previous features, but also to control the level of white and its relationship to red, blue and green.
Adjusting the colors in the application offers better options, as it is not limited to the main tools such as adjusting the saturation or temperature, but rather can adjust each color separately and determine the level of Hue, Saturation and Luminance that the user prefers for each color.
Adjusting colors in Adobe Lightroom is as professional as doing the same process on the computer version of the application.
The application certainly and without the need to mention supports other traditional tools and well-known filters with a professional touch in some of them, but unfortunately some of those tools require a paid account as a Healing feature to remove objects and people from pictures or the Selective feature to identify objects and copy them to other images.

In general, the main difference between the two applications depends on the user’s behavior and needs, despite the closeness between them.
Snapseed provides everything the user will need in a smooth and fast manner, and the application is small in size and works on all phones without a problem.
The Adobe Lightroom application on the other hand provides a more professional experience, but at the same time it does not work smoothly on all phones, as it has some tools that do not work with a paid subscription
